Hyderabad: In an effort to shed the image that TRS leadership is out of bounds for the party functionaries, the newly-appointed TRS working president K T Rama Rao has decided to allocate two to three hours to meet and listen to leaders and cadre every day at Telangana Bhavan. The new-age politician that he is, KTR will be taking a slew of initiatives to stay in touch with rank and file of the party and also public on regular basis.

A step in this direction is district visits from time to time to guide district leadership thus ensuring party gets strengthened from grassroot level. Also, the new working president is leaving his mark with his decision to open a "public grievance cell" in Telangana Bhavan, with an exclusive team that will digitize the grievances and follow it up by forwarding them to MLAs and district administration concerned for redressal.

These are some of the decisions taken at the meeting of the state committee, the first chaired by K T Rama Rao, after being given the responsibility of party working president. A separate chamber is being readied for KTR in Telangana Bhavan and he will formally take charge of the new post at 11.56 am on Monday. After winning the assembly battle by a big margin, TRS is working hard to repeat its big feat in parliamentary elections in March-April and Gram Panchayat elections slated earlier in January.

The meeting presided over by KTR decided to appoint one general secretary, two secretaries or joint secretaries as well as MLAs of the constituent seven assembly segments as the incharge team for each Parliament segment. The goal is to win 16 MP seats, TRS leader and MLC Palla Rajeshwar Reddy said while briefing media persons on the decisions taken at the meeting.

The TRS state committee also resolved to pursue voter updation process on a wider scale by ensuring every missing or lost vote is updated and the voter gets his voting right. It called upon party ranks in all districts to devote time for this exercise between December 26 and January 6, in view of the impending Panchayat polls.

TRS delegation-led by KTR will call on Election Commission and appeal it to address missing voters’ issue in time for the coming elections. Also, the committee decided to take up membership enrolment drive, constituency wise, in entire February month and follow it up by providing insurance cover to all. This exercise is being done every two years. KTR also appointed two sub-committees to oversee the task of strengthening the party at grassroot level and also oversee infrastructure and video-conferencing facilities in party offices in each district.

Five state committee members, who were elected as MLAs namely Mynampally Hanumantha Rao, Muta Gopal, Patnam Narender Reddy, Bandla Krishnamohan Reddy and S Ravi Shanker have been relieved of their duties in state committee so that they could fully focus on constituency activities from here on.
