Hyderabad: To ensure incident-free and accident-free new year, the Police Commissioners of three Police Commissionerates deployed the police as a precautionary measure. The police personnel, right from the Police Commissioners to Home Guard were deployed.

City Police Commissioner Anjani Kumar participated in a cake cutting programme at Telugu Talli flyover at midnight. Later he participated in celebrations at KBR Park and Charminar and conveyed best wishes to the police families. The police officials took stringent measures and prepared a detailed plan to make the first day of the year incident-free. The police closed all the flyovers in the city, except Begumpet flyover and ORR to keep the youth and drunken driving under control, besides curbing rash driving.

For several years the citizens gather at the Tank Bund and surrounding place to celebrate the new year. This time the police imposed traffic restrictions at Hussainsagar lake. From 10 pm to 2 am on January 1, the vehicular traffic was not allowed on the NTR Marg, Necklace road and Upper Tank Bund. They requested the citizens to take alternate routes. The restrictions led to a few citizens gathering at the Tank Bunk.

Cyberabad Police Commissioner V C Sajjanar participated in cake cutting celebrations at Hitech city Cyber Tower signal under flyover. He wished all the police staff a happy New Year . The police ensure that the vehicles passed through barricades, so that drunk and rash driving was curbed. The police also deployed the personnel near the parks, hotels and clubs to check drunk driving. Parents also saw to it that their children celebrated the arrival of New Year in the vicinity because of cold conditions. Restrictions were imposed on event managers this time.
