Secunderabad: Kiran Uniyal, a mother of two and wife of Colonel Sunil Uniyal, a serving Army Officer at Secunderabad Military Station, is a passionate martial arts practitioner. She recently created and achieved Guinness World Record for most full contact elbow strikes (one hand) in three minutes - 466 strikes to be precise. And this feat features among the Best of Guinness World Records official video of Jan 2019. She probably is the first woman from the families of Armed/Paramilitary Forces to achieve an individual Guinness World Record in India and Telangana in Martial Arts. She has dedicated her Guinness World Record to the Armed Forces women.

She has a differently abled girl child, who is an inspiration for her & her husband. Her son Kartik Uniyal is also a black belt in Taekwondo and he too holds 2 Guinness World Records and achieved his first Guinness World Record at the age of 5 years. Kiran Uniyal has proved that not only our Army men but even their wives are also mentally & physically strong, as women can achieve and excel in any field in spite of challenges in their lives with their sheer hard work, will power, zeal and determination. Being a diehard fan of Bruce Lee, she joined Taekwondo in her teenage. After a long gap, she re-joined Taekwondo and since then has been practicing it.

She has so far achieved 11 world records including six Guinness World Records in martial arts, fitness & social work. She is also a philanthropist working for many causes like blood donation, blood donor’s motivator and has been working for disabled, martyred families, Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan, tree plantation, supporting orphanages, mentally destitute ashram, etc. Being a Taekwondo practitioner, she has been promoting it as a self-defence, fitness and sports for girls/women safety and self-defence by organising various sessions for them. She wants every girl and women to learn martial arts for self-defence and fitness. She has strong belief in “Self Defence for Self Help”. She wants girls and women to be strong both mentally and physically to face any eventuality.
