Adilabad: Upadhyaya Sangala Porata Committee (USPC) and JACTO leaders staged hunger strike before the collectorate here on Thursday, demanding the government to release pending PRC, abolish contributory pension system CPS and up gradation of Pundit, Physical education teachers posts and other demands.
Teachers' union leaders Jadhav Ashok and Narender alleged that Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao had cheated teachers, who gave false assurances on May 16, 2018 that he will clear all pending problems of teachers. Number of teachers are retiring in the same cadre due to lack of promotions in the State, they added.
Stating that the Andhra Pradesh government has implemented 27 per cent interim remuneration (IR), they clearly said that they will not accept if the TRS government pay less than that.
Speaking about giving 20 per cent fitment, they wandered how much has tobe spent on fitment. 'At present, there are 2.62 lakh employed teachers and 2.67 lakh pensioners in the State, thus the government has to implement PRC to 5.29 lakh teachers.
If the government implements 1% fitment, it has to spend an additional amount of Rs 225 crore annually, according to an estimation made on the amount to be spent on fitment ranging from one percent to 35%. If 20% fitment is given to the employees, then the amount will be Rs 4,500 crore, if the fitment is 22%, then the amount will be Rs 4,950 crore, if the fitment is 24%, then the amount will be Rs 5,400 crore approximately.'
JACTO and USPC steering committee leaders Madugu Shyam, A Venkat, T Srinivas, B Ravindar, K Srinivas, P Narendar, K Dilip, Jadav Chandrakanth, Surekha, Swarupa, Meera and others were participated in the hunger strike.
