The Prakasam district public celebrated the Bhogi festival with gaiety and religious fervour on Tuesday.

Ongole: The Prakasam district public celebrated the Bhogi festival with gaiety and religious fervour on Tuesday. The junctions of various roads were seen lit with Bhogi Mantalu and the people cheer around them since early morning.

The children helped their parents and grandparents in bringing out the unnecessary and broken furniture, papers along with the wood specially bought for the campfire.

The women arranged pots filled with the water to heat and used them for the bath of children. They blessed the children by showering Bhoigipallu on them. The temples like Chennakesava swami temple, Saibaba temple received a large number of devotees and the priests offered blessings to them.

Minister for Energy Balineni Srinivasa Reddy participated in the Bhogi celebrations at the Saibaba temple in Lawyerpet by the Lions Club of Ongole Citizens, Elite Citizens and JCI Ongole. The performance of Kolatam, Dappu, Gangireddulu artists mesmerized the audience including the minister and his wife.

The Lions Club of Ongole Citizens president Dr Shaik Nyamatulla Basha handed over the lantern to the minister to lit the Bhogi fire. The minister appreciated the members of the clubs for organizing the celebrations and protecting the culture and tradition and providing livelihood to the artists.

The Geetha Parivar group in the town organized the Bhogi Pallu program for the infants and toddlers at the Geetha Mandiram in Gandhi Road. The Geetha Parivar member Soma Subbarao announced that they are organizing the Bhogi Pallu program for years to bless the children have a healthy and peaceful life.
