More Megastore fined in Hyderabad after customer finds insect in chocolate
The Consumer forum fined More Megastore of Rs 36,080 after its customer found an insect inside the chocolate.
The Consumer forum fined More Megastore of Rs 36,080 after its customer found an insect inside the chocolate. On October 11, 2018, Komaragiri Subbarao has gone to the store in Erramanzil and bought chocolates for his son on the latter's birthday.
After returning home, Subbarao's daughter took a Dairy milk fruit and nut chocolate and was eating it when his son noticed insects in the chocolate and complained to his father. However, his daughter fell sick due to food poisoning and was rushed to a hospital.
Subbarao took the matter to the notice of the super er market but no one has responded to his complaint. He then approached the Consumer forum and lodged a complaint against Cadbury and More Megastore. After hearing the arguments of Cadbury and the supermarket, the forum found More guilty and fined Rs 36,080.
The forum asked to pay Rs 80 for the chocolate, Rs 1000 for medical expenses, Rs 25,000 fine and Rs 10,000 for the customer. It also said that the fine should be paid within a month.
