Prof Jayashankar Telangana State Agricultural University (PJTSAU) on Wednesday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Sreenidhi Institute of Science and Technology (SNIST) at the university’s administrative office in Rajendranagar.

Rajendranagar: Prof Jayashankar Telangana State Agricultural University (PJTSAU) on Wednesday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Sreenidhi Institute of Science and Technology (SNIST) at the university's administrative office in Rajendranagar.

The MoU documents were exchanged by In-charge Registrar of PJTSAU Dr Seema and Director of SNIST Dr P Narasimha Reddy, in the presence of Vice Chancellor Dr V Praveen Rao. Speaking on the occasion, the vice chancellor said that the modern technology like drones, artificial intelligence and big data analytics may be effectively utilised in the agriculture activities, thereby bringing down the cultivation costs.

He further said that there is a need to apply engineering technologies for the benefit of agriculture, and it would ensure to enhance the farmers' income. Dr Rao also said that the university has been encouraging the agri-entrepreneurship skills among the students.

The main objective of the MoU is to have collaboration in academic programmes, support in research & development through innovation and entrepreneurship and training in various fields of common interest to bring the results of science & technology to the use of the society.

Dr P Narasimha Reddy has introduced the faculty members and explained the activities and on-going research programmes of the SNIST. Later, Vice chancellor and other university officers observed the functioning of the drone, which was developed by the SNIST students, for spraying and other agricultural operations.

The University officers of PJTSAU, Dr Pradeep, Dr D Rajireddy, Dr Meenakumari, Dr Vishnuvardhan reddy, Dr Sadasivarao, Dr Laxman, Dr Anitha and SNIST's Dean for R&D Dr Ameet chavan and faculty members, students of SNIST were present on the occasion.
