8 Indians among 17 killed in Dubai bus crash

At least 8 Indians travelling in a bus from Oman to Dubai have died in a fatal crash on June 6. A total of 17 people have died in the crash.
According to ANI, Dubai Police has said that the bus was carrying 31 people when it "overrun a traffic signal" near the Rashidiya exit on Thursday evening.
Police say the bus crashed into a sign on Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road. They did not elaborate on what caused the bus driver to hit the sign, though police warn that "sometimes a minor error or negligence" can be fatal, reported AP.
The accident victims were rushed to the Rashid Hospital in Dubai where four other Indians were given treatment and released. A few others are still undergoing treatment.
Local authorities confirmed to the Indian embassy in Dubai that eight Indians are among the dead.

The consulate has identified the deceased as, Rajagopalan, Feroz Khan Pathan, Reshma Feroz Khan Pathan, Deepak Kumar, Jamaludeen Arakkaveettil, Kiran Johnny, Vasudev and Tilakram Jawahar Thakur.
The consulate has said they are in touch with the relatives of the deceased and others who are undergoing treatment.
Mwasalat, a government-owned bus company in Oman, said the crash involving its Muscat-to-Dubai route happened at 6 p.m. Thursday. It said it would suspend the service for the immediate future.
