Action plan for National Institute of Technology buildings approved
The Union Human Resources Development Ministry and Standing Finance Committee has approved the action plan to construct new buildings to National Institute of Technology (NIT) with an outlay of Rs 460.50 crore, disclosed Endowment’s Minister Pydikondala Manikyala Rao.

Eluru: The Union Human Resources Development Ministry and Standing Finance Committee has approved the action plan to construct new buildings to National Institute of Technology (NIT) with an outlay of Rs 460.50 crore, disclosed Endowment’s Minister Pydikondala Manikyala Rao.
Addressing media at Tadepalligudem at his Camp office on Wednesday, the Minister said that the construction of NIT-AP buildings would be taken up by Central Public Works Department. Within eight months’ time, first phase of buildings will be completed by next academic year, he added.
In first year, about Rs 237.60 crores would be spent on the building construction. In second year Rs 181.92 crore would be spent on the construction and by 2019-20 academic year Rs 46.92 crores would be spent for the completion of buildings according to the action plan, he added.
He said tenders will be called for the construction of these building. The Minister while thanking the Union Minister for Human Resources Prakash Javdekar and State Higher Education Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao said that he will meet the Central minister Javdekar and higher officials and discuss on the contracting agency issue and the buildings would be constructed in a pre-fabricated technology.
The CPWD officials have prepared a plan to utilise the transit buildings as permanent buildings. He also congratulated the Vasavi Engineering College management for their cooperation in allotting buildings to NIT in Tadepalligudem.
He also thanked the NIT Warangal Director GRC Reddy, Residential Coordinator Srinivas, CPWD Chief Engineer and SE for their efforts on getting plan cleared at the Centre. AP-NIT resident Coordinator Srinivas, Vasavi Engineering correspondent Chalamcharla Subba Rao, Chairman Grandhi Satyanarayana, Civil Engineering Prof Praveen and others participated in the meeting.
