Crime against men on the rise : Nannapaneni moots Men’s Commission

For the past few years, the number of women indulging in crime is on the rise. It is estimated by the police department that about 50 such grave incidents of crime against men by women were reported in the past two years across the state and there would be hundreds of minor incidents that the men might have felt shy to report.
B Mariyadas, DSP of District Crime Records Bureau, said that there are Acts and laws that protect women from men, as they are prepared with the idea that men are physically stronger than women, but no Act could prevent men from the harassment of women.
He said that if any man complains about physical attack by women, the police can book a case, but the men are not coming forward.
Alarmed by the continuous incidents of women attacking men, Andhra Pradesh Women Commission Chairperson Nannapaneni Rajakumari opined that there is a need of appointing Men’s Commission now.
Tammisetty Ramadevi, a member of Women’s Commission, explained that the Chairperson already wrote a letter to the Prime Minister and Ministry of Information and Broadcasting to appoint a sensor board for TV channels.
She said that the innocent women are being fed with criminal thoughts and ways to execute them step by step in the TV programmes.
She opined that though there were incidents of women avenging men in the past too, the crime rate is increased in the past few rates; Hence, they are advising the government to appoint the Men’s Commission to save innocent men from the criminal minded women.
Prakasam District Superintendent of Police Bhusarapu Satya Yesubabu said that illegal affairs and socio-economic issues are the reasons behind women attacking men now.
He opined that the social media, special programmes on crimes, plots in serials are motivating them and their impact is more.
