Call to make AP a knowledge hub

Kadapa: HRD Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao gave a call to students to play a key role in making Andhra Pradesh as knowledge hub by making use of opportunities provided by the state government.
Addressing a massive gathering after inaugurating the Andhra Pradesh Science Congress-2018 at Yogi Vemana University (YVU) here on Friday, the Minister mentioned that the state government had allocated Rs 25,000 crore for promoting quality education in the budget as against the total allocation of Rs 1.6 lakh crore despite financial deficit of Rs 17,000 crore.
Ganta stated Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu is giving top priority for science education. To strengthen the education system in the state, the government introduced bio-metric attendance in all universities and colleges, he said and added skill development centres were set up in 42-degree colleges and in all varsities across the state with an aim of improving skills among students.
The Minister informed the gathering that the government has started 25 employment-oriented courses in 12 autonomous colleges. Appreciating the YVU for achieving remarkable development from 2006 and running 30 various courses to students, the Minister declared that Gnana Bheri programme will be held in the varsity soon.
Marketing Minister C Adinarayana Reddy has termed YVU as pride for Kadapa district and has been imparting quality education to students. He urged the PhD scholars to utilise the 3-day event as it will be a rare opportunity for them to hear the speeches of famous scientists attending the Science Congress here.
On the occasion, the Ministers have inaugurated Arts and Commerce building constructed at a cost of Rs 16 crore. YVU Vice-Chancellor A Ramachandra Reddy, AP Science Congress CEO Dr A Krishna Rao, District Collector Ch Harikiran and other officials, faculty members, academicians and students were present.
