Kadapa: The Road Transport Authority (RTA) officials and Police Department have jointly organised a bike rally in Proddatur on Saturday, to create awareness on wearing helmet.

About 600 students of the Chaitanya Bharathi Institute of Technology (CBIT) have participated in the rally.

Deputy Transport Commissioner (DTC) M Basi Reddy has flagged off of the bike rally at Rameswaram and concluded at Sivalayam Centre.

Speaking on the occasion, the DTC stated 470 persons have died in accidents across the district in 2018 and 1,058 suffered injuries.

He has revealed that 116 were killed only because of not wearing helmets. Proddatur DSP K Srinivasa Rao also spoke.

CBIT Chairman K Jayachandra Reddy and others were present.
