“We are now Cyient. This new brand identity is an important step in positioning us as a distinctively unique global company that represents our vision and our forward looking initiatives,” B V R Mohan Reddy, the company’s founder and Executive Chairman, told media here on Wednesday.
The software firm has been contemplating name change for quite some time because Infotech as a name is too generic and doesn’t reflect its core functions. The Infotech’s Board has approved the name change two months ago and shareholders have also given their consent through postal ballot.
“As we began discussing changes to Infotech’s brand, our goal was to further establish the company’s identity as the industry leader we have become over the last 20 years,” Reddy said.
He further said: “We originally intended to simply update our brand identity. As we developed the rationale, we realized that an entirely new name would help to better define our evolution, our current scope of capabilities and accomplishments”.
Cyient has connotations to the words ‘client’ and ‘science’ – two important components in the company’s success. Besides, ‘ient’ in the new name refers to Infotech Enterprises. “We decided on the constructed word that implies both the type of solutions we develop and also recognizes our company history, heritage and the values we carry forward,” said Krishna Bodanapu, the company’s newly-appointed MD and CEO.
Established in 1991, the company has become a global leader in engineering, networks and operations. It has operations at 38 global locations. Its clients include major aerospace, manufacturing, transportation, utilities and communications companies.
Elements of the Cyient brand, including a new logo, website and marketing materials, have been developed in partnership with global brand agency Wolff Olins. The company is spending $3 million (nearly Rs 18 crore) for the rebranding campaign. Replying to a query, he said the company might take more than the earlier set target of the year 2016 to reach $1-billion mark in revenues.
