LS Speaker offers prayers at Tirumala

Tirupati: Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar visited Lord Venkateshwara temple at Tirumala on Saturday evening and offered special prayers. A Later, Vedic priests blessed the Speaker at Ranganayakula mandapam. She also took part in the Sahasradeepalankara seva. Earlier, TTD officials, government officials, politicians and leaders of Dalit associations gave her a rousing welcome at Sri Padmavathi Guest House in Tirupati on Saturday afternoon. Later, Dalit associations' leaders submitted representations on various demands. Speaking to media persons at airport, she said she has arrived at Tirupati after two decades. On the request of the chairman of the Legislative Council Chakrapani and TTD's chairman Kanumuri Bapiraju, she came for darshan, she said. She thanked the people of Andhra Pradesh for showering affection on her. She also had darshan of Goddess Padmavathi in Tiruchanur temple.
