5 lakh book cover labels to be distributed free to students

Hyderabad: Following successful holding the exhibition in various places across India and recently in the City on ‘Indian Muslim Freedom Fighters’, Syed Naseer Ahamed has took up another initiative to spread awareness particularly amongst the children by distributing ‘name stickers’ with the portrait and description of the Freedom Fighter ‘free of cost’.
The historian who was on a two-day visit to the City recently for exhibition has decided to bring awareness amongst the children who were fond of sticking labels ‘name stickers’ on their school books. Most of these students buy sticker labels with cartoon characters, sports stars or animals. Hence, he decided to distribute about 5 lakh stickers across the country free of cost, with the help of some sponsors. “Stickers of freedom fighters are not available, so one idea flashed in my mind. I selected the pictures of unsung heroes of Indian Freedom struggle from my book ‘The Immortals’”, he explained.
If a student pastes the sticker on his book, it would remain there for months and it would be seen by the student every day. He or she would see the picture and he would read what was written about Freedom Fighter in one line. It would be very easily memorized by the student. So, the picture of freedom fighter and information about him would be stamped in the mind and heart of the students permanently. “Sticker labels have a visibility ranging from teachers, co students, parents, siblings and other family members and tuition teachers, who also could learn about the freedom fighters,” he added.
Facebook friends help in venture Naseer explained that keeping this novel thought in mind he went on to prepare a model sticker. But due to his financial constraints, he decided to take help from different quarters and posted the idea on Facebook and other social media groups. “The response is very good. A number of my friends and some NGOs came forward to help me in this missionary project. This work of printing and dispatching in installments is started 15 days back. Till now we were able to send a about 150 parcels through posts and courier, covering almost all the States. Some sticker labels even reached abroad. I am confident that by the end of this month we will cross five lakh stickers distributed in the country,” he noted.
