Senior IPS officer Amitabh Thakur on Saturday filed a complaint against Samajwadi Party (SP) supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav at the Hazratganj Police Station here.

"I felt I should stand up for myself so I filed a complaint against Mulayam Singh Yadav," Thakur told ANI.

Thakur had earlier alleged that Mulayam had threatened him over the phone, asking him to 'mend his ways'.

"At around 4.45 pm, a phone came from Mulayam Singh's residence and he talked to me. He told me that whatever had happened in Jasrana, Firozabad, where I had been assaulted by one of his relative and an MLA in 2006, much harsher things will happen to me if I don't 'mend my ways'," he said.

The IPS officer said he was worried about his and his wife's safety.
