N Vidyasagar elected Council Dy Chairman unopposed. Nethi Vidyasagar Rao was unanimously elected as Deputy Chairman of Telangana Legislative Council on Tuesday. As no other nomination was filed, Vidyasagar Rao was declared elected unanimously.

Hyderabad: Nethi Vidyasagar Rao was unanimously elected as Deputy Chairman of Telangana Legislative Council on Tuesday. As no other nomination was filed, Vidyasagar Rao was declared elected unanimously. Council Chairman Swamy Goud administered him oath of office in the House.

Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao greeted him on the occasion and prompted him to occupy the chair. Speaking on the occasion, Chandrashekar Rao said election of Vidyasagar Rao as Deputy Chairman had enhanced respect of the Council as he had played a key role in the statehood movement.

Chandrashekar Rao called upon young politicians to emulate his ideals of fair politics. The Chief Minister also praised Rao for his abilities in smooth conduct of the Council during the first session after Telangana State formation. Deputy Chief Ministers Kadiyam Srihari, Mahamood Ali, Home Minister Nayani Narsimha Reddy, Power Minister G Jagadish Reddy and others also congratulated Vidyasagar Rao over his unanimous election.

Before the bifurcation of the united State too, Vidyasagar Rao held the post during the Congress regime. Vidyasagar was earlier elected as MLC from the Congress and served as Deputy Chairman. Hailing from Nakrekal in Nalgonda district, Vidyasagar was again elected on TRS ticket in June last.
