Hyderabad: While pointing out the educational backwardness of the Muslims, Deputy Chief Minister Mohammed Mahmood Ali emphasised the importance of modern day education for the community and urged them to remain afoot in the contemporary world.
While delivering his speech as a chief guest at an ‘Educational Fair, 2018 organised by T Tv at Taj Banjara Hotel, Mahmood Ali called upon the members of the community to shed inhibitions regarding modern education as it would not only provide a better future to children, but also make them better citizens.
Citing the example of former President A P J Abdul Kalam, Ali said that despite coming from a poor background he was able to achieve what others could have only dreamt off. He said that the services of ‘missile man’ to the nation were unmatchable. “It is not the wealth generation, but the education which makes one a complete man and if added with ethics would make him a complete personality,” he said
The Deputy Chief Minister pointed out the last Nizam of Hyderabad established Osmania University, which was of one of top educational institutions and one of its kind with its 1900 acres land, a well-planned campus for generations to come. He said the quality of education was on par with corporate schools which can be vindicated by the fact that the students recently returned back from the USA after taking part in the competitions organised by NASA. “The Chief Minister had plans to extend this kind of education to two lakh students by coming up with a total of 500 schools in the coming days,” he said.
Mahmood Ali asserted that as part of its efforts to uplift Minorities, the State government was also providing free coaching to IAS and IPS aspirants. He stressed on the need for balancing modern education with religious, as Islam has given special emphasis on education. While discouraging unnecessary spending in marriages and other functions, he asked the philanthropists and businessmen to spend more on the educational needs of the Muslims.
