Khammam: The district administration is conducting the second phase of voter list correction process perfectly and successfully said that Electoral Observer A Ashok on Wednesday.

He along with District Collector RV Karnan chaired a meeting with the representatives of the various political parties and Returning Officers here at Pragna Conference Hall in Khammam.

Speaking on the occasion, A Ashok said urged the representatives of political parties to act as intermediaries between the people and district administration in helping the former to exercise their voting right.

Since the party representatives happen to be in touch with various sections of society, they can play a major role in enrolling the voter those who crossed 18 years of age. The objections that are received during the second phase of voter correction process will be conveyed as it is to the Election Commission without showing any partiality, he assured.

As per the voter ratio in the district, there must be about 3 per cent of voter enrollment of disabled persons in the district. So all the disabled persons present across the district who have crossed 18 years of age must enroll their names in the voter’s list and the party representatives must take initiative in this regard, he advised.

Dispose the claims that are received after September 25 and display the final list on October 8 along with submitting the list to the representatives of the various political parties, he ordered.

The District Election Returning Officer and Collector R V Karnan explained the State Electoral Observer the second phase of voter correction process that is conducted in the district through power point presentation.

The Collector urged the party representatives to give the list of polling stations and the areas where there would be possibility of disturbances and chances of untoward incidents take place so that tight security arrangements can be made in those areas in advance.

Later, the State Electoral Observer along with the District Collector inspected the functioning of VV PATS and EVM machines in the presence of various parties’ representatives.

Joint Collector Masrath Khanam, Sub-Collector Anurag Jayanti, Electoral Officers R Dasharath, B Indumathi, B Shivaji, Deputy Tahsildar Rambabu, Congress party leader Deepak Chowdhary, CPI party leader Singu Narasimha Rao, TDP leader Shivaiah, TRS leader Vijay Kumar, CPM party leader Y Srinivas Rao and BSP leader Lakshman were present on the occasion.
