WhatsApp implemented a group privacy setting that enables you to choose who can add you to a group

After worries about the dissemination of erroneous information through the messaging platform, primarily through the group chats, WhatsApp implemented a group privacy setting for users in India that enable you to choose who can add you to a group, with the option of choose 'nobody'. Now, with a small improvement in this privacy setting, WhatsApp is implementing the function for users around the world on both Android and iOS.

The WABetaInfo reported first, WhatsApp has now added a new blacklist option in the privacy settings. Mainly, now when you verify the privacy settings of your group, in the 'Who can add me to groups' settings, in addition to Everyone and My contacts, you will see a third option as well called 'My Contacts Except'. This new option will allow you to select the users that must obtain approval before adding you to a group. You can choose some users or click on the Select All option to include the entire contact list.

The report also notes that when you add a new contact to your phone, you will have to add that additional person to the list manually. The My Contacts option, on the other hand, will allow even the newly added contact in your address book to add it to groups, and the Everyone option will not add any restrictions.

The Nobody option has been removed from 'Who can add me to groups' settings.

You can see this setting by going to WhatsApp Settings > Account > Privacy > Groups.

Reportedly, WhatsApp is remotely activating the function in the beta version of iOS 2.19.110.20 and beta version of Android 2.19.298.

In addition to the new group privacy settings, WhatsApp has also begun to implement the function of playing consecutive voice memos on WhatsApp Web. With the new feature, if you receive multiple voice messages in a chat, you will only have to press Play on the first voice note, and all other consecutive messages will be played one after another. This, of course, will not work if the series of voice memos you receive is interrupted by some other message or multimedia file.
