Cyclone Fani: 1000 Telangana electricity staff sent to Odisha for power restoration

Around 1000 employees of various power utilities of Telangana have been sent to cyclone 'Fani' ravaged Odisha to restore power supply on Tuesday.

People in Odisha is suffering from power outage after the electricity poles were uprooted and power transmission lines broke down after the cyclonic storm. The Odisha government is learned to have asked Telangana government's help for the power restoration in the state for which the chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao responded positively.

KCR directed the state chief secretary SK Joshi and CMD Transco, Devulapalli Prabhakar Rao to extend support to Odisha. The power staff were instructed to go to the state to help in restoring the power.

Nearly 37 people lost their lives and 1.48 crore people were affected due to the cyclone.
