Health Minister directs DMHOs to stay on full alert in the coming weeks to ensure a medical officer is on duty in every PHC

Hyderabad: Any negligence on part of government doctors and staff in districts tasked with coronavirus containment measures or included in Rapid Response Teams will not be spared. Health Minister Eatala Rajender has directed all DMHOs (District Medical Health Officers) to suspend anyone if they don't report to duties on time or show negligent attitude at work. He wanted the health officials and staff to work responsibly and get a name for the department. In view of some suspected cases with travel history to abroad coming from erstwhile districts like Nizamabad, Warangal and Khammam in last few days, Eatala held a video-conference with DMHOs of all districts on Saturday.

He told them to maintain data of each foreign returned person and also keep track of them on daily basis. All symptomatic and asymptomatic cases have to be put under isolation. The minister was informed by Karimnagar DMHO that foreign nationals from China and Uzbekistan who came to Karimnagar for granite business were put under home quarantine. Directing district health chiefs to stay on full alert in the coming weeks, he directed them to ensure a medical officer is on duty in every PHC. He assured to provide required facilities and additional staff depending on patients rush in health centres.

From the senior official in the district to Asha worker, everyone should work in coordination, he said. Eatala directed DMHOs to take up Covid-19 awareness drive in all schools in districts on March 10.
