Gang of six held for cheating people in the name of allotting Double Bedroom houses

Hyderabad: The Cyberabad Police Commissionerate's Dundigal police on Saturday busted the gang involved in cheating in the name of allotting double bedroom houses and arrested six accused by name Velisetty Venkata Sathya Krishna Vara Prasad (43), Aduri Murali Krishna Murthy (72), Palakollu Srinivas Rao (45), Aela Laxmi (46), Nagalla Krishna Rao (37) and K Srinivas (53).

According to Cyberabad Police Commissioner V C Sajjanar, since the State government has taken the double bedroom housing programme as prestigious welfare programme and has been constructing 2BHK houses in various places of State including in Bahadurpally of Dundigal police station limits, the gang by taking the advantage of it cheated the public in the name of allotting double bedroom houses.

According to their plan, the accused Aela Laxmi, who is having a tiffin centre used to show fake double bedroom allotment letter to all her customers and known persons and started collecting Rs 1.5 lakh from each customer. From the amount received, she used to take commission and then used to give the remaining amount to Srinivas Rao, who inturn also take part of the amount as commission and paid remaining amount to Murali Krishna Murthy and VVS Krishna Vara Prasad. Murali Krishna also collected individually Rs 1.5 lakh from public and after taking commission and then paid amount to Krishna Vara Prasad. Likewise all the accused used to collect the amount from the innocent public and share it to the others. Thus, they have cheated 169 victims and have collected Rs 2.25 crore from them.

Police Commissiioner said during the investigation police found that Krishna Vara Prasad while consuming liquor in a local wine shop heard the discussion of two strangers regarding the fake allotment letter of double bedroom homes.

He took a photocopy of fake double bedroom allotment letter and with the help of one unknown person namely Venkat, a resident of Bowrampet prepared a fake allotment letter. He then met his relative Murali Krishna Murthy and convinced that he had very good contacts in Secretariat and it is cake walk for him to bring the allotment letters of double bedroom. Believing his words, Murali Krishna Murthy had submitted 169 applications for the sanction of double bedroom homes by paying an amount of Rs 1 Crore. By cheating other too, the collected money spent lavishly and constructed one house for him.

Police had recovered Rs 1.11 crore, 6 mobile phones, 1 laptop, printer, gold ornaments weighing 115 grams, one gold necklace, two cars and fake double bedroom allotment letters all worth Rs 1.21 crore. On the complaint of Busaraju Lalitha on December 28, police booked a case and arrested the accused.
