Hyderabad: City Mayor Bonthu Rammohan along with Khairtabad MLA Danam Nagender, corporator G Vijaya Lakshmi and Biodiversity wing Additional commissioner Krishna inspected Vijaya Nursery in MLA Colony, Jubliee Hills on Wednesday. He urged people to fully extend their cooperation in making Hyderabad a green city.

"With the aim of making Hyderabad pollution-free city, and as part of Telanganaku Haritha Haram programme, Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has set a target of 2.5 crore saplings to be planted under GHMC limits. As per the directions of MAUD Minister K T Ramarao, planning is being done to implement Haritha Haram in 150 wards."

He called upon corporators and officials to play a vital role in the programme. Colony welfare associations and voluntary organisations should also be made part of it. Saplings will be made available for residents of various colonies. A total of 50 theme parks will be developed. Yadadri sort of parks will be set up at 75 places in the city. About 700 tree parks are being developed. About 50 lakh saplings are available at 29 nurseries setup under GHMC limits. Rest of the saplings will be availed from HMDA and private nurseries.

The Mayor further said that LB Nagar, Kukatpally and Charminar zones would be developed as urban forest parks by planting 19,20,948 saplings.
