Christmas was celebrated with religious gaiety and fervor in Prakasam on Friday. Families thronged the churches in the midnight and offered special prayers, along with their children. The 150-year-old Jewett Memorial Baptist Church adorned a beautiful look with illumination.

The 140 –year-old Ramayapatnam Baptist church, too, was decorated for the festival. The JDBM Baptist Church in Kandukur welcomed the people for prayers with carols. The YSRCP leader and Ongole MP, YV Subba Reddy, participated in the prayers at a church in Tangutur. He said that everyone should take the path of Jesus and contribute from their hard earned money for the welfare and happiness of fellow human beings and society. Father John Prabhakar delivered the message of God and asked the members of church to share the joy with the poor and encouraged them to lend a helping hand to the oppressed and destitute. MLC Magunta Srinivasula Reddy participated in the prayers and extended his wishes for the people.

The grand celebration of Christmas was witnessed across the districts as all churches were decked up for the birthday of Jesus Christ. The rural areas also enthusiastically celebrated the festivities. Mandal Education Officer Lazar, sarpanch Venkatalaxmi offered special prayers. Father Manikaya Rao delivered the message of Christ. MPP Parvathi, MPTC member Mohanbabu participated in the prayers organised at Arumbaka SC colony. Christians at Bavajipalem, Amudalapalli, Kunchinapudi, Thellapalli panchayats celebrated Christmas with devotion.
