A skill training programme by the Andhra Pradesh Skill Development Corporation (APSDC) was inaugurated by the Vice-Chancellor of Vikrama Simhapuri University (VSU), Prof Veeraiah at Sri Krishna Chaitanya Degree College here on Wednesday.

Nellore: A skill training programme by the Andhra Pradesh Skill Development Corporation (APSDC) was inaugurated by the Vice-Chancellor of Vikrama Simhapuri University (VSU), Prof Veeraiah at Sri Krishna Chaitanya Degree College here on Wednesday.

This intensive training programme was taken up to shape the students in special trades required getting into entry and higher positions in the software field, he said. In the first phase, 6,000 students will undergo this training in which 1,000 from Nellore district, he added. In order to benefit the students in this academic year, the programme was launched initially to train 400 students from the selected colleges in the district, VC said.

Students from Krishna Chaitanya, Jagans, and Rao’s will be trained in the first phase, he added. VSU Registrar Prof PR Sivasankar said that students required a keener insight to analyse their abilities. Skill is a practical ability and it requires imitation and practice, he said. Prof M Chandraiah, Dean of College Development Council in VSU, said that campus drives would be conducted after the training.

Krishna Chaitanya Institutions Director RV Krishna Reddy felt fortunate for hosting this programme. APSDC Associate Director Sri Lokanadham while introducing the trainers Samson, Diwakar, Dhanalakshmi, Satish, and Shanmugam, thanked the university administration for taking initiative to launch this programme. The principals of the affiliated colleges, students from Krishna Chaitanya College, and staff were also present.
