Madiga Reservation Porata Samithi (MRPS) activists obstructed midway
A number of vehicles carrying the activists of Madiga Reservation Porata Samithi (MRPS) were stopped on Friday at Pamulapadu on Guntur-Kurnool road in an attempt to prevent them from attending the Kurukshetra Mahasabha organised by MRPS chief Manda Krishna Madiga demanding SC classification at Amaravati.
Atmakur (Kurnool): A number of vehicles carrying the activists of Madiga Reservation Porata Samithi (MRPS) were stopped on Friday at Pamulapadu on Guntur-Kurnool road in an attempt to prevent them from attending the Kurukshetra Mahasabha organised by MRPS chief Manda Krishna Madiga demanding SC classification at Amaravati.
Highlights:
- MRPS workers were on their way to Amaravati to attend a meeting organised by Samithi chief Manda Krishna Madiga
- Tension prevailed on Guntur-Kurnool Road for three hours with vehicular traffic coming to stand still
The police force headed by DSP Supraja stopped all the vehicles much to the chagrin of the MRPS activists. The irate activists instigated the women activists to attack the police personnel. However, DSP Supraja and her team of personnel tried their best to avert the scene turning ugly.
They ransacked some of the police vehicles and even tried to burn them by throwing at the vehicles Molotov cocktails. They rounded up the police personnel including the CIs and SIs and took them away from the road. As a result, tension prevailed on Guntur-Kurnool Road for three hours.
The MRPS activists raised slogans against Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu stating that he deceived the Madiga community by backtracking on his promise of SC classification.
Vehicular traffic came to standstill for at least 10 km on the Guntur-Kurnool road for three hours. The road blockade caused immense inconvenience to the women, children and the aged who were caught in the traffic jam.
The police stopped all the vehicles which were carrying the MRPS activists on Nandikotkur, Atmakur, Velugodu, Nandyal and Srisailam roads. The police effectively prevented the MRPS activists from reaching the meeting venue by stopping all their vehicles in and around Atmakur in Kurnool district.
