He opposed misrule of Aurangzeb vehemently
Karimnagar: Members of District Gouda Association here on Sunday celebrated birth anniversary of Sarvai Papanna, who had fought against Mughal commanders opposing their misrule in the Telangana region towards the end of 17th century.
Speaking on the occasion, former MLA Koduri Srinivasa Goud stated that Sarvai Papanna was valiant defender of people in the region when there was lawlessness under the rule of Aurangzeb. Telangana activists took inspiration from Sarvai Papanna and struggled for statehood status for the region for decades, he added.
Mr Koduri Srinivasa Goud said that the government forgot a great man like Papanna, who stood by the side of masses and fought against atrocities by the then rulers. He demanded the government to arrange statues of Sarvai Papanna in all Telangana districts. The association members organised various service programmes in the town to mark the occasion.
