Hyderabad: In a significant development, and bowing down to the growing fissures that touched a flashpoint, the incumbent body heading the Hyderabad District Basketball Association (HDBA) has been dissolved.

A decision to this effect and the constitution of a new panel was taken at the Special General Body Meeting that was convened to take stock of the situation. Following the displeasure expressed by several members, particularly those who wondered the non-participation of players from Hyderabad district in the important Youth National Championships at Bhavnagar and the Junior National Basketball Championship at Ludhiana.

The decision to dissolve the body was unanimous on the charges that the incumbent panel was not promoting the game to the required levels and for preventing players from the district from attending selection trials called for by the Telangana Basketball Association.

The observers for the meeting included Vijay Kumar Yadav, President of Hyderabad District Olympic Association and A Aleem Khan, DSDO of DSA, Hyderabad.

Consequently, a five-member Ad-hoc Committee was formed to run the affairs of the Association and conduct fresh elections.
