Hyderabad: As the alliance between the Congress and the TDP had been almost finalised with the meeting between TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu and AICC president Rahul Gandhi, the focus has now been shifted to vote transfer between both parties. Leaders of both parties have agreed that the success of the alliance depends on vote transfer between both the parties. Both parties have to ensure vote transfer so that alliance candidates could win.

They have been suggesting few methods to ensure the process. They said these steps would ensure the Congress vote to the TDP and vice-versa. They have been recalling the past experiences in this regard. The leaders made it clear that vote transfer would not take place automatically with forging alliance and special efforts were needed to convince voters about the importance of extending support to other party candidate. A Congress leader said though it would be easy for the Congress candidates to get the votes of Telugu Desam, the same may not be possible on transfer of Congress votes to TDP.

The leader said that as the Telugu Desam voters might not vote for the TRS and opt the Congress in a constituency which has been given to grand old party as part alliance arrangement, the same may not be case with the constituency where the TDP candidate is chosen over the Congress, as the voters may consider the TRS candidate if they do not like the TDP candidate.

He said that the TDP was much aware of this fact and has been acting cautiously. The TD has chosen the constituencies where Seemandhra voters are in majority to ensure victory of its candidates. The TDP leaders feel that even if a section of the Congress voters tilt towards the TRS, their candidate would win with the help of voters of other section of the Congress.

The leader said that similar was the case with CPI. The Congress was benefited with the votes of the CPI, but the left party was not ensured the transfer of Congress votes in the previous election.

In view of this, the TDP and the Congress leaders are drawing strategies to ensure vote transfer in both the directions. A senior leader of Congress said that TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu should campaign vigorously in Telangana and spread the message of the alliance. Another senior leader suggested that Rahul and Naidu should meet repeatedly before the elections to showcase the alliance arrangement so that it sinks into the minds of the voters.
