Wanaparthy: All the 57 passengers travelling from Mettupally to Wanaparthy had a safe escape as the RTC bus in which they were travelling hit a huge mound of mud on the road side when the driver of the bus tried to avoid hitting a 14-year-old boy riding a bike who suddenly fell on the road in front of the bus.

The incident happened on the outskirts of Mettupally village. The bus that hit the mound of mud fell into a road side ditch causing minor injuries to passengers. "Thanks to the alert driver, who had manoeuvred the bus tactically and saved the lives of 57 passengers," said Banavath Ravi, a passenger of the bus.

The 14-year-old minor boy on the bike was severely injured and was sent to the Wanaparthy government hospital. The police have registered a case and investigating the matter.

"Despite our repeated counselling to parents and creating awareness programmes, they are still allowing their minor children to ride the bikes. We have registered a case in this regard and investigating further," said Wanaparthy SI.
