The Muslim communities in the city and in the district concluded their month-long Ramzan rituals and celebrated Eid-Ul-Fitr on Monday with religious fervor and gaiety. The day began with Muslims attired in their best, offering prayers at mosques near Jagadamba Junction, Old-Town area, Akkayyapalem, Maddilapalem, Gajuwaka and few other places in the city.

Visakhapatnam: The Muslim communities in the city and in the district concluded their month-long Ramzan rituals and celebrated Eid-Ul-Fitr on Monday with religious fervor and gaiety. The day began with Muslims attired in their best, offering prayers at mosques near Jagadamba Junction, Old-Town area, Akkayyapalem, Maddilapalem, Gajuwaka and few other places in the city.

The largest congregational prayers known as Salat-al-Eid took place at historic Mecca Masjid, located at Jagadamba Junction in which thousands of Muslims performed prayers in the morning hours. All the Mosques were decked up and offering prayers and wishing Eid-Mubarak were the common sight at the mosques.

After the Namaz at mosques, that marks the culmination of the holy fasting month of Ramzan, children hugged each other and the mosques reverberated with greetings of Eid Mubarak. People were seen exchanging sweets and gifts and savouring special dishes_ sheer korma, butter chicken and several other mouth watering dishes.

Sheik Rehman, a senior community head, said that Eid-ul-Fitr is a day of great merriment and they celebrated the day with family and friends.The city police have taken necessary security arrangements near all the major mosques in the city to prevent any kind of untoward incidents.
