Vijayawada: Agitated over the non-cooperation at ration depots in issuing the essential commodities, women of Vambey Colony have staged a protest under the guidance of Communist Party of India (Marxist) CPM in front of the ration depot, on Thursday.

CPM city secretary Ch Babu Rao alleged that government has neglected the welfare of the people. It’s inefficiency in sorting out the agitational issues has added to the woes of the public, he said.
Although the Food Security Bill was passed in the Parliament, the public are being prevented and deprived of their right to subsidised commodities available through ration shops, he said. People’s representatives should be ashamed of their inability to look into public affairs. Owing to the present agitations, the supplies are all stalled causing great inconvenience to the public. Lack of transportation forced the small and petty businessmen to stay indoors and prevented them from making their living. The people’s representatives should take responsibility and clear the issue, he added.
