Vice-President and Rajya Sabha Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu on Wednesday said that the convicts in the case of Nirbhaya rape and murder should be executed as early as possible. He believes that such things should not be delayed for a long time. Earlier, Aam Aadmi Party MP Sanjay Singh has expressed concern over the delay in execution of Nirbhaya convicts in Rajya Sabha on Wednesday and asked the Rajya Sabha chairman to look into the matter.

Responding to this, Venkaiah Naidu said the delay in execution of Nirbhaya convicts was a serious and sensitive matter and stated that it is not good for the country to stall the verdicts for such a long time. "People of the country are concerned and have become impatient over the delay of execution of Nirbhaya convicts," VC said. Venkaiah suggested that steps should be taken to implement the verdict in this case as soon as possible.

AAP MP has demanded that the President of India or the Supreme Court Chief Justice intervene in the delay in execution of Nirbhaya convicts. He said that people were taking to the streets all over the country with the postponement of execution. Meanwhile, Union Minister Prakash Javadekar has blamed the Delhi government for the delay in execution of Nirbhaya convicts.
